The Science Advisory Committee serves an important and integral role at TierraMar Science Institute. As a community, we exist to develop meaningful land conservation and management data through scientific exploration. 

The Science Advisory Committee is a group of highly experienced and qualified professionals who ensure adherence to our central mission: Effective, research-backed involvement in important conservation endeavors.

The members of our Science Advisory Committee are experts in their respective fields, covering a broad range of disciplines and industries and representing networks and connections that serve as extremely valuable resources for researchers. The committee evaluates opportunities presented to our organization with the goal of keeping us on mission and our work effective. Their decisions and expertise help us guide our financial resources appropriately.

What We Do

Research and education are at the core of our conservation philosophy. We strive to fund critical scientific research and serve as a catalyst for important conservation projects. Our Science Advisory Committee serves several important functions that help us stay true to our mission.

 

The Science Advisory Committee:

 

  • Is responsible for evaluating research proposals and scholarship applications

  • Provides key insights to the community’s board by evaluating land opportunities and growth opportunities

  • Provides science-driven feedback on conservation actions

Our community at TierraMar Science Institute is made up of landowners, agricultural producers, land managers, scientists, researchers, and other like-minded conservationists. We all share a commitment to regional conservation efforts, identifying land or easements for conservation, and allocating funding for important research and education. Our community was created out of a love for the land, and that passion remains the connecting point that unites our supporters.
